Will Badie recorded a double-double finishing
with a game high in both points (21) and rebounds (13) for Ephrata
I. Carlos Vargas went for 16 points and John Rios finished with 12
points. Drew Karschner scored 9 of his 11 points in the second half
and Brian Ingraham added 10 points to go along with 9 boards. Marc
Lescoe chipped in with 3 points.
Matt Bartholomew had a big second half scoring
14 of his team high 16 points to lead First United. Matt Woods
converted on seven of eleven shots to finish with 14 points and also
grabbed 8 boards. Dan Tangert hit four of his seven three-point
attempts to finish with 12 points. Josh Hermalik had 10 points, 8
rebounds and 4 assists. John Mellish and Seth Sigman each had 7
points. Ben Culbert chipped in with 2 points.
First United grabbed an early lead 13-8 just
5:00 minutes into the game. A 9-0 run helped give Ephrata I a
5-point lead (21-16) halfway through the first half. Ephrata I
pushed the lead to 9 (31-22) at the 5:00 minute mark of the first
half, and had their biggest lead of the game 38-25 with 1:00 minute
left in the half. First United scored the last 4 points of the half
to cut the deficit to 9 points at the break. Ephrata I maintained
their 9-point lead 46-37 with 15:00 minutes left to play. Ephrata I
led 51-45 halfway through the second half. With 5:00 minutes
remaining Ephrata I led 56-51 and pushed the lead out to 9 points
again 63-54 with 2:00 minutes left. First United hit a three pointer
with 38 seconds to cut the lead to 6 points 67-61, however Ephrata I
made enough free throws down the stretch to hold on for the 5-point
victory.
